Ms. Demitros joined The Schiff Group following more than 30 years of experience in affordable housing programs at HUD. Ms. Demitros’s most recent HUD experience is in the administration of the HOPE VI program. Beginning in 1998 as a HOPE VI Grant Manager, Ms. Demitros became a Team Leader in the Office of Public Housing Investments, managing a group of Grant Managers with a portfolio totaling more than $1 billion.
Since joining The Schiff Group in March 2003, Ms. Demitros has acted as the HOPE VI Coordinator for the Wheeling (WV) Housing Authority and as the primary program advisor to the Utica Municipal Housing Authority in implementing their 2002 HOPE VI Grant. She has also acted as an expert advisor to other clients on HOPE VI specific issues, as well as broad ranging matters dealing with affordable housing financing and community and supportive service issues.
As a member of the HUD HOPE VI management team, Ms. Demitros has reviewed HOPE VI grant applications in each funding cycle beginning in 1998. She has closed numerous mixed-finance transactions, providing advice and guidance to both her staff and HOPE VI grantees in the intricacies of these complex transactions. Ms. Demitros also served on both the Policy Committee and Project Review Panel in the Office of Public Housing Investments. These bodies developed, analyzed and enforced program requirements for HOPE VI and other mixed-finance programs.
